Final Project

In an age where students constantly show concern for their future, their school, both virtually and in-person, should offer the highest quality resources to encourage student participation and pride. A modern, central piece that students look to for school pride is the school website. While reviewing several of the websites provided in Rural districts in Pennsylvania, there are noticeable differences in the professionalism and pride each website provides. This project will focus on some of the top mistakes that web developers make and seek to optimize viewer experience in regards to linguistic shortcomings/grammar, unprofessional design/optimization, and lack of desirable association. It is my hope that visitors will find part of themselves in the site and desire to associate with the district’s population regardless of demographics.

The primary purpose of this website will be to enhance the above listed factors that increase/decrease prospective site visitors and to discourage page abandonment due to notable development shortcomings. I will work off examples from Rural School Districts like Troy or Forest Area School District. I am seeking permission as we speak. Otherwise I will create a fictional district.

Some secondary goals of this site will be to optimize relative picture/graphic sizing for various users, incorporate CSS/Javascript to improve site interactivity and interconnectedness and to generate a viable mobile presence for the site if it’s feasible.
